WHO’S MAKING MOVES

First Round Capital opened a second $500,000 Dorm Room Fund, AllThingsD reported, and this one’s in New York City. The student-run investment fund, originally piloted in Philadelphia, will be at Columbia, NYU, Princeton and the “Cornell Tech” campus, according to AllThingsD. The Philadelphia fund has already made investments in four startups, though the only public one so far is its $20,000 investment in screen-sharing startup Firefly.

AdAge named First Round Capital on its “Digital A-List,” saying that the investment firm does a hell of a job connecting startups and big brands.

In other First Round news, managing partner Josh Kopelman participated as a mentor for The Last Mile, a program that trains inmates at California’s San Quentin State Prison to be entrepreneurs, TechCrunch reportedThe firm also participated in a $5 million round of funding for Silicon Valley-based cyber security startup AgariVentureBeat reported.

Couponing app SnipSnap is in the running to be About.com’s Best Shopping App.

Jon Gosier, CEO of data science startup Metalayer, gave workshops on data visualization at this weekend’s education unconference TechCamp. Gosier and his fellow TechCamp participants built and launched eMoteCard.com, a tool for teachers to keep track of qualitative aspects of a classroom, rather than just grades. Metalayer is also participating in the White House’s Startup Day on the Hill, a technology and politics event that began yesterday and finishes today. The Metalayer team will be talking about “how data-mining, semantic search, and data visualization can be powerful tools for improving service delivery during times of wide-scale disaster,” according to the company blog.

Old City mobile shop Artisan publicly launched its live-publishing tool for mobile apps this week, as we reported. The startup, formerly known as appRenaissance, will relocate to larger offices in Center City this May.

Visual analytics startup Curalate held a conference in New York City last week called “Marketing Without Words: Social Engagement Through Imagery.”

WHO’S GETTING FUNDED

Wynnewood-based biopharma company Immunome raised $445,000, according to an SEC filing.
