This week is packed with events you won’t want to miss. Although we can’t promise anything, there will likely be free air conditioning, too.

This week get the low-down on what’s hot and new in Mac on Tuesday, check up on the folks at Hive76 on Wednesday and join Technically Philly at the Supernova Forum 2010 on Thursday and Friday.

Tuesday, July 27: If you need something to do in between waiting in line at the Apple Store, the Macintosh Business Users Society monthly meet-up is the event for you. Head down to Dorrance Hamilton Hall on Broad Street and get a speak-peak at new hardware and software. You’ll see product demonstrations of the hot new Apple stuff, often before their general release to the public. 6:30 p.m. South Philly. INFO [view more events]

Wednesday, July 28: Just like they do every week, the kind citizens at Hive76 are opening their doors to all of us this Wednesday. Drop by to work on hardware or software projects, or come early for the Hive76 planning, or “scrum,” meeting at 7:00 pm. Not that you need the added incentive, but they also have free pizza. 8:00 pm. Center City. INFO [view more events]

Thursday, July 29 – Friday, July 30: Join us at the Wharton School late this week for the Supernova Forum 2010: Perestroika. This two-day forum is jam-packed. Delve into graphic designs straight from Tokyo at the Pecha Kucha lighting talks, and check out their tech policy forum, featuring experts and policy-makers from Washington, DC including the CTO of Obama’s Open Government initiative.
Update: PSL Happy Hour has been moved to a later date as the PSL BBQ.

If you haven’t joined in the mad dash to the Jersey Shore, don’t fret. We have a packed calendar of technology events that are just as good as some funnel cake. Okay, maybe not funnel cake. But definitely better than salt water taffy.

Our events are stacked early this week, dear reader. On Monday see what the kids at Indy Hall are up to at their third ever town meeting. The next day mingle with the smartest entrepreneurial minds the region has to offer at the Philly Startup Leaders happy hour. Then, enjoy a proper breakfast on Monday as you talk about helping the world through business.

Be sure to check our complete calendar for more events.

Monday, July 12th: Usually when the folks at Independents Hall call a town meeting its for a good reason. Geoff DiMasi and Alex Hillman have asked that Indy Hall members and the interested public gather on Monday, though no word on the reason why. We’ve been hearing that the memberships have been selling like hotcakes, perhaps another expansion? Allow Technically Philly to offer our guest room. 5:30 p.m. Old City. INFO [view more events]

Wednesday, July 14th: We’ve argued that Philly is the hub for socially conscience businesses and the CFO Alliance continues the conversation over a “Triple Bottom Line Breakfast.” If you you can make it out to the burbs, chat “people, planet and profits” and how CFOs can make the world a better place through their businesses. 7:30 a.m. Gladwyne INFO. [view more events]

Disclosure: Alex Hillman of Indy Hall is a sponsor of Technically Philly.

If you have an event that you think we should be listing, email us or fill outour submission form for best results.
And hell if it isn’t a good time to be in town. Philly Beer week is already raging (if the PBC truck at Liberty Lands park on Saturday was any indication), and there’s some great technology events around town, too. Grab a beer. Head on over to one of the community happenings. And do a night cap from your favorite local brewery.

This week, Twitter’s in town, there’s fun to be had at Agile Philly’s hack night and there’s an evening dedicated to process improvement. We’d make fun of that, but geez, we love productivity as much as the next guy.

Tuesday, June 7th: There ain’t nothin’ like a hack night. Agile Philly’s branded version—Code Kata Night—is all you’d expect from a spontaneous coding fest with all the agile you could ever ask for. 6:30 p.m. University City. RSVP.
Tuesday, June 8th: PhillyCHI doesn’t mess around; when they call it a Special Event, you know it will be. On Tuesday, the design group will host UX dudes Mark Trammel, of Twitter, and Stephen P. Anderson, to talk how to better Web experiences for your visitors. 6:30 p.m.. University City. RSVP.
Wednesday, June 9th: Smart metering and smart grid expert Rich Creegan, VP of Marketing and Strategy at Itron will present at Philadelphia Software Process Improvement Network (SPIN), to discuss just that. And if you don’t improve your software process, maybe Rich will hook us all up with some home meter hacks. How ’bout it, Rich?6:00 p.m. Exton. RSVP. [view more events]

But this week, there’s so many great, free technology happenings that we can’t pick just three. Wednesday alone has—count ‘em—seven events that all seem promising. That’s half of the 15 organized events this week. On a single day. Better take off Thursday while you can and see our breakdown after the jump.

Thursday, Verizon Wireless hosts a free, all-day wireless industry conference that looks put together. Sunday, we at Technically Philly will be in Cherry Hill to talk tech. Come on out if you’d like to heckle us, represent Philly’s vibrant tech community or talk shop with us after the event. And now, for the marathon…

All events listed on the event calendar are free to attend. Be sure to check our complete calendar for more.

Wednesday, April 14th: Like we said, Wednesday is packed. If you’re hoping to shake up your company’s IT department for the better, start the day with Penn State Great Valley’s Green IT symposium, an all-day conference which is free, mind you.

GoodCompany Ventures, our local social entrepreneurship incubator will host a launch party. Even though they’re working with businesses for social good, don’t feel bad about throwing back a few with these folks.

Before next week’s huge Entrepreneur Week (also listed on our calendar), Empowerment Group hosts an event always welcome in our opinion: advice on how to start a business. Share ideas with other business-minded folks and decide if you’re ready to take the plunge.

Note: If you were planning on attending the createAdelphia job fair, it has been postponed to the fall “due to scheduling conflicts.” All Day. Throughout. See Wednesday’s full listings. [view more events]

Thursday, April 15th: Thursday, wireless experts will convene at Penn to talk about the mobile industry in an event sponsored heavily by Verizon. There’s something about the registration page‘s black Droid background that makes it look legit. Tell us how that one goes. All Day. University City. RSVP [view more events]

Sunday, April 18th: On Sunday, Technically Philly will present to patrons of the Cherry Hill Public Library an hour-long talk about how technology impacts our lives, with an emphasis on new consumer electronics, the rise of social media, the changing media landscape, and the region’s technology community. We’ll be around to chat afterwards, and we’ll have some products from Springboard Media to demo, like Apple’s new iPad. 1:30 p.m. Cherry Hill. [view more events]

Update: Edited Hive76 event.

I hope you left next weekend open, Philadelphia, because our event calendar should give you plenty to do this Saturday.

First, you can head to the hometown of our very Brian James Kirk for BarCamp Harrisburg 2. It’s Technically not Philadelphia, but the attendee list tell us that several people are making the trip.

Though if you don’t feel like spending a lot of time on the turnpike, stay local and help Hive76 make a video game in three hours. But if your weekend is already stacked, head to Center City to discuss the city’s burgeoning social entrepreneurship community.

All events listed on the event calendar are free to attend. Be sure to check our complete calendar for more.

Saturday, April 10th – Hive 76 is taking part in an international game jam with its Three Hour Game Jam, where developers all around the world have three hours to make a small game based on a mystery topic to be revealed the day of. We dig events that actually produce something, and the Hive (not GameDev.net, mind you) is giving away memberships as prizes. 5:00 p.m. Callowhill. INFO.
Saturday, April 10th – If there is one thing Technically Philly can never turn down, it’s an unconference. And maybe Yuengling. Go westward, my friends, to the BarCamp Harrisburg 2. Only 32 tickets are left so you’ll have to hurry. 9:00 a.m. Harrisburg. REGISTER [view more events]

Tuesday, April 6th - In case you missed it, Philly is taking this whole social entrepreneurship thing rather seriously. Come explore the next level of the conversation at NetTuesday’s meetup, Social Entrepreneurs, the Social Web and Social Change. Speaking will be Good Comapy Ventures’ Garrett Melby and Blake Jennelle, founder of Missioneurs. 6:00 p.m. Center City East. REGISTER.
Social media has been getting a bad rap lately thanks to Twitter-organized mobs, but that shouldn’t stop you from attending our social media-heavy event schedule this week.

First, learn about the intricacy of social media law, then take advantage of our wonderful weather of late by searching around Old City for charity. Lastly, spend an easy Sunday morning learning how to install Linux.

Tuesday, March 23rd: When we were wee tikes in journalism school (read: two years ago) things like “libel” and “slander” were easy to grasp. Now, one stream-of-conscience tweet may be all that isseparatingyou and your company from aninconvenientlawsuit. Head on out to Bala Cynwyd and learn the legalimplicationsfor your new social media campaign. 8:15 a.m. Bala Cynwyd. RSVP. [view more events]

Thursday, March 25th: Twestival Philly wants to help you remember the Easter egg hunts of your youth by sending you and a team of others on a scavenger hunt around Old City. Use social media to uncover items before retiring to National Mechanics for some brews. Technically Philly typically doesn’t list paid events, but your 20 bucks will go toConcern Worldwide.Happy hunting! 7:00 p.m. Old City. RSVP. [view more events]

Sunday, March 28th: It’s a fact: installing Linux is a bitch. One wrong move and you could end up erasing your entire hard drive, and that’s before getting into partitions. Avoid the hassle and have the kind folks at Hive76 help you out during their Linux install class taught by Maggie Avener and Stephanie Alarcon. 10 a.m. Poplar. RSVP. But Philadelphia has quite a presence in Austin, Texas, this week for South by Southwest, for sure. Our reporter Sean Blanda is hot on the trial, chasing down Philly’s representatives. He’ll follow-up with a report later this week.

That said, there’s some great opportunities here in Philadelphia, too. Join Microsoft’s Malvern branch for its CloudCamp unconference to discuss the growing cloud computing industry and Philly Startup Leaders hosts a fishbowl of City of Philadelphia’s Digital Philadelphia vision with city officials.

All events listed on the event calendar are free to attend. Be sure to check our complete calendar for more.

Tuesday, March 16th: Microsoft’s Philly campus is hosting CloudCamp, an unconference for cloud computing technologies. The group already has a handful of attendees for the free event. We’d like to think Steve Balmer will show up to talk about that Sidekick data loss incident, but our eightball says “doubtful.” 5:00 p.m.
Wednesday, March 17th: Philly Startup Leaders will host a fishbowl with the City of Philadelphia’s Chief Technology Officer Allan Frank to discuss the city’s network infrastructure and economic plans to create a growing technology ecosystem. This one’s not to be missed if you’re concerned about Philadelphia’s tech future. 7:00 p.m. Center City. RSVP. [view more events]

Wednesday,March 17: Also on Wednesday, the Entrepreneurs Forum of Greater Philadelphia hosts an introduction to Cleantech companies, like Finite Carbon, Hydrogen Odorization Technology and Momentum Dynamics. If you’re looking to use your brainy technology abilities in a new industry, look no further. 5:30 p.m.
And there’s even better news: everyday this week is slated to have a high of at least 55 degrees. So ditch your winter coat and skip the usual routine of heading home straight after work. Our event calendar is jam packed you have no excuse to miss out.

This week: the 140 conference strikes again, PSL get happy (and possibly political) and 8static throws down with a free show.

Monday, March 8th: We covered the last 140 Conference, and Pulver and company are at it again. This time, however, the group takes the social media show on the road to Manyunk. Speakers include Warren Bobrow, food editor of theWild River Review and Valeria Maltoni, author of the popular blog Conversation Agent. 5 p.m. Manyunk. RSVP.
Wednesday, March 10th: The PSL cats have much to discuss this week as CTO Allan Frank will be paying them a visit at the group’s next Fishbowl. Normally that would be a big deal, but now that the city has gone all techie on us? Huuuuuge deal. So go kick back some cold ones and plot how the Philadelphiaentrepreneurialcommunity can make an impact on city government. Or just kick back some cold ones.
Saturday, March 12: At Ignite Philly 5, 8static musician Ro-bear told us several times about hishatredfor midterms. We’ll this Saturday, he’ll be well rested after a week of spring break as 8static and our pals at Geekadelphia team up to throw a free party at Studio 34.
Updated 3/4, 7:32 a.m.: Fixed a misspelling.

Maybe it’s wishful thinking, but are there more birds chirping and an opportunity to wear one less layer before we head out the door? Is that Spring coming? We sure hope so.

If you make it out this week, you’ll want to stop by either Ignite Philly 5 or Net Squared Net Tuesday, on, uh, Tuesday evening. Or heck, do both. Who’s to stop you, rebel? On Thursday, hit up the PHP Area Meetup Group, where they’re gonna tell you that Notepad is just, like, sooo not cool anymore; by itself, anyway. Whatever you decide, just remember: the weeks of this cold abyss are quickly coming to an end.

All events listed on the event calendar are free to attend. Be sure to checkour complete calendar for more.

Tuesday, March 2nd: Ignite Philly 5 kicks off in the early evening in Fishtown, where we simply wish there were more tech events. Fortunately for the neighborhood, Ignite happens to be a premiere event for the local community, featuring a handful of movers and shakers in the creative economies. This month, Ignite is part of the inaugural Global Ignite Week, with over 60 participating cities hosting Ignite events this week. Speakers include Asheesh Laroia of OpenHatch.org, Andrea Silva of Fishtown’s Positive Space, Jennifer Cohen of Something Creative LLC, Garrett Melby of GoodCompany Ventures and Andrew J. Rosenthal of Happier.com. A ton of local startups are also represented, which we covered here. 7:00 p.m.
Tuesday,March 2nd: If Ignite ain’t your thing, NetSquared Net Tuesday will cover how social media tools are empowering our ability to respond to crises like the earthquake in Haiti and Hurricane Katrina, or even budget cut concerns. Included in the discussion: how social structures are emerging to build community to prepare for next crises. 6:00 p.m. Center City West.DETAILS. [view more events]

Thursday,March 4: The Philadelphia Area PHP Meetup group will meet to dicuss the benefits of old school-style text editor workflow and how Integrated Development Environments are changing the game. In the words of the meetup group, “If you’re not using an IDE, you might as well be programming with mittens on.” Truth is, we wrote this week’s Highlights with mittens on.
