TEDx Philly videos are live: Stanford Thompson, Robert J. Moore, Evan Malone, Zoe Strauss and others

TEDx Philly, the local spinoff of the popular, high-brow presentation event on technology, education and design, has posted online videos of 12 of the 16 Tedx Philly presentations from last month’s event.

Held at the Kimmel Center in Center City, more than 600 attendees crammed the hall to watch those presentations, including the four below:

Of TuneUp Philly, “Stanford Thompson speaks about the importance of after school programs and how music serves as a vehicle for social change. See Stanford’s students come on stage for a string performance that reduces the crowd to tears.”

Of RJ Metrics, “Robert J. Moore will astonish you with how much data is being created. He stresses the importance of organizing and analyzing the insane amount of data we now have.”

Evan Malone of NextFab Studio on “exposing how innovators in STEM are being sent oversees after graduation, Evan Malone offers suggestions and policy reform that can help keep these bright minds in America.”

“Once a year, for the past 10 years, Zoe Strauss turned the space under 95 South into an art gallery. Hear Strauss share inspiring stories of how personal history and community history shape her art.”

Devnuts: the youngest collaboration and incubation workspace in Northern Liberties

The two dozen 20-somethings behind Devnuts are organizing.

The Northern Liberties collaborative workspace is aiming at being seen as a more comprehensive collection of professionals.

Announced with a sleek new website launch yesterday, the Devnuts crew is abutting its form of co-working with a heavier focus on incubation and selling its pooled talent.

“Devnuts does three things,” says John Fazio, one of the co-founders. “First, it’s a co-working space that you can apply for a desk space to rent. Second, it’s an incubator [for young startups]. Third, because we’ve built a talent pool around us, we’re selling development talent.”

With a contractor circle of 22, including seven employees and at least that many interns, in addition to others on the periphery, relationships with Drexel University and the Science Leadership Academy to bring in new startups to house and testimonials for building homepages for the Roots and TEDxPhilly to name just two , the Devnuts crew seems to be doing well with all three.

In case you have sworn off Twitter and the national tech media, the esteemed TED conference took place in Long Beach, California last week. The event features 18-minute speeches from former presidents, CEOs, academics and other hand-selected thought-leaders. The attendees are also cherry picked requiring an invitation and a $6,000 ticket.

Normally, the guest list of the yearly conference remains secret, however the fellas over at Valleywag have gotten their hands on the entire guest list. After some extensive searching and find a replace magic, we found everyone from Philly who was deemed worthy enough to attend the event.
